Galvanised steel mesh panels with galvanised steel frames. Galvanising is the standard finish on every kit – it is what makes the steel last outdoors, and it gives the panels their silvery-grey colour. Powder-coating is an optional paid upgrade: powdered plastic is sprayed over the steel and heat-cured, so it lasts a little longer and comes in colours to suit your home. It adds 1 to 2 weeks to the build time.
It depends on what you're building. Enclosures: 10–30 minutes for a first-timer. Tunnels: about 10 minutes (top and bottom piece join). Connecting tunnels to an enclosure or exit box: roughly 20 minutes, which is the longest part. Exit boxes: 10–30 minutes. Hook-on accessories like steps and hammocks: about a minute each.
Ideally yes. If your ground is flat and level, the enclosure sits directly on it. On an angle? You can either level the ground yourself or use Catnip timber surrounds to create a level base.
We include the fastening pliers and clips. You will need a couple of things of your own: tunnels need a hole cut into the enclosure mesh, and we never pre-cut it because the right position depends on your home. If you are fixing the enclosure to a wall, post or pergola, you will need a drill. Everything else clips together by hand.
Absolutely. Catnip enclosures protect native reptiles, birdlife, and small mammals – noisy miners, parrots, possums, native rats, blue-tongued lizards and more. Birds are the biggest group we protect. Your cat still gets to watch the wildlife up close (think of it as cat TV), just without any animals being harmed. It keeps other cats out of your garden, too.
The structural warranty covers failure from faulty materials or workmanship for 10 years. Conditions: keep it clean, no plants growing through, only approved parts, and no harsh chemicals. Coastal properties within about 1 km of salt water should rinse with fresh water fortnightly. It does not cover cosmetic ageing, accidental damage, or extreme weather events.
